About Our “Drive-In” Theater
When we were growing-up, the local Drive-In was a popular place to go for an evening of fun on summer nights. For a single admission, you could load the whole family into the car and see two feature films, cartoons, short subjects, and more!
Sadly, most of the Drive-In theaters are gone now…
…so we decided to recreate the “Drive-In” experience for our friends and neighbors! We show full-length feature films, cartoons, and short subjects, along with vintage Drive-In intermission films, in our backyard under the stars! Our huge, outdoor screen is 9 feet tall and 20 feet across!
We show real movies on film – not videos or DVD’s. The film projectors are placed 60 feet away from the screen, so the picture is big and bright, and there’s plenty of room to spread-out on the lawn and enjoy the show!
Leave your car on the street – you’ll need blankets or lawn chairs to sit on the grass at this “Drive-In” theater, so be sure to bring them from home!!
Coming for the first time?
If you are coming to our “Drive-In” theater for the first time, here are some things to know:
- We are a small group of film enthusiasts — there are no crowds here, and you’ll have no problem parking on the street.
- The movies are free; there is no charge for admission.
- This isn’t really a drive-in theater — you don’t sit in your car to watch the movies. Instead, you sit in lawn chairs on the grass (be sure to bring them from home!) in our backyard. There is lots of room!
- We provide free popcorn, but that’s all — please bring other snacks and beverages from home (soda, water, beer, wine, chips, veggies, etc.). You can even bring a picnic dinner.
- Your fellow movie-goers will love you if you bring snacks to share.
- The movies begin at sundown: all shows in June and July begin at 9PM; all shows in August begin at 8:30PM; and the Labor Day weekend show begins at 8PM. Movies begin promptly, and run 2 – 2½ hours. (Come early for the best spots on the lawn!)
- Most shows begin with Coming Attractions and Cartoons, then a Short Subject, a brief Intermission, and then the Feature Film.
- If you have young children, most will enjoy the Cartoons and Short Subjects, and Intermission is a good time to leave if you think the Feature Film will not be appropriate for them.
